Artistic workshop in the National Park of Appennino Lucano ‘Val d’Agri Lagonegrese’

The dissemination and sharing of our experience outside the Pollino Park are among the association’s key objectives and give us the chance to build dialogue, discussion and new relationships that are the foundation of cultural and social growth and development. ‘Relationships’ were the topic of the artistic workshop organised by the association in the National Park of Appennino Lucano ‘Val d’Agri Lagonegrese’, thanks to the cooperation between ArtePollino and the Centre for Environmental Education and Sustainability (CEAS) “Il Cielo di Indra”; according to their shared vision, relationships are the basis for personal growth, as well as the most effective way to favour a sense of belonging and reciprocity with the environment. The workshop took place at the former convent of the Benedictine Nuns of Marsico Nuovo, a monumental complex of great historical and artistic value, where art, environment and animation find their ideal location. This setting offered new perspectives and enabled the students to think about the importance of living in a protected area. The workshop took place on 9 and 10 June 2011 and involved the students of the Liceo Scientifico “G. Peano” of Marsico Nuovo. Two young artists from Basilicata, Maria Carmela Milano and Marianna Vecchio invited the students to an hands-on workshop on the language of collective art and the building of relationships: the co-creation of an artistic installation on the importance of interdependence and the close bond that unites all living beings. The work, made by the group and not by a single individual, is a clear example of how creativity can be a drive for growth, socialisation and well-being.
