LATRONICO – The ambitious Arte Pollino project, promoted by the Basilicata Region, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Cultural Activities and Heritage and the Venice Biennale Foundation, represents a new and original way to promote the Pollino National Park, because its aim is to qualify the territory through the contemporary art.
To diffuse and popularize the ArtePollino project, in view of the official opening event coming up on September, the ArtePollino association is promoting a series of activities for the information, involvement and awareness of the territory. Apart from being present in the different events whit its informative stand, the association is also promoting a series of public meetings that will take place in the municipalities of the Park. «Our aim - Gaetano Lofrano, the association's chairman, states – is to prepare the inhabitants of the Park to have a new perspective on the territory's openness, introducing the artists and their works, telling the people about the project and all of the activities that the association has planned to promote». The first public meeting will take place today, at h. 17.00 pm, in the high school of Latronico, and the Bavarian artist Nils-Udo will take part in it, called to realize one of the artworks that will change the Pollino National Park into a wonderful scenery, in which art and nature dialogue. «Aim of the today's meeting - Lofrano finishes - is to increasingly arouse the citizens' curiosity about this ambitious project, which has the opportunity of bringing in our areas world-famous artists and, sure enough, many contemporary art lovers». Instaed, on 26th August, in Umberto square, in Latronico, it will take place a creative workshop for children and parents, to give free play to their imagination, taking part in a collective action by using the stencil technique to decorate the ArtePollino T-shirts. Hence, a creative action which is useful to highlight and promote a creative process as the one which is going to be experimented by the Park and its inhabitants.
