| Discovering Pollino through a Photo Contest |
|
The contest is addressed to the schools at all levels of the Pollino National Park.
ArtePollino cultural Association continues with its promotion and popularization of the homonimous project, promoted by Basilicata Region in partnership with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, the Ministry of Economic Development and Venice Biennale Foundation, in the ambit of the Agreement of Sensi Contemporanei Programme. On the 17th of March, in the Nuova Italia Cinema of Latronico, there will be the Exhibition and the Prize-giving of “I Segreti del Pollino – Pollino's secrets” Photo Contest. The contest, which is addressed to the schools at all levels of the Pollino National Park, was promoted in order to invite young people to tell about the territory of the Park, through the images, and make it famous to reveal its secrets. Revealing the secrets of a place means to catch the less famous and evident aspects and so the more interesting ones. Students were invited to attentively observe the Park's territory in order to snap the magic of an uncontaminated nature, its traditions' strength, the cultural values, the signs of history and each particular aspect that makes the Pollino exclusive. The result is a a narrative by images, that wouldn't be considered as a succession of coloured postcards, but as a different and creative way to contribute making the sense of belonging to a territory rooted and to invite schools to better know the surrounding cultural heritage. Students and techers answered also to this initiative with great enthusiasm, that will finish on the 17th with the prize-giving by the jury, who selected the photos, composed by Mario Cristiani (President of the Arte Pollino scientific Committee), Laura Barreca (a member of the scientific Committee, nominated by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities), Laura Tomaselli (Arte Sella Chairwoman), Caterina Seia (Unicredit Art), Angela Rosati and Egidio Di Stefano (photographers). In addition to the prize-giving and the certificates of attendance delivery, the event would also be considered as an educational moment to compare with the others and think on the “photographic journey” in the Pollino Park, where the protagonists will be the students, invited to freely express their own sensations and feelings and explain their choice of the photographed subjects.
