| Art and Recycling using creativity and imagination |
Each thing is another one. Maybe this was the spark which incited the Comprehensive Institutes of Latronico, Castelluccio Inferiore and Senise, a day per week, to experiment with the workshops on art and recycling didactics. Promoted by ArtePollino association, with the co-funding by Basilicata Region and Aato 1 Potenza, the workshops deal with different artistic subjects creating an atmosphere of experimentation and research that gives the pleasure of knowing and learning by doing; the whole by adding creativity to a minimum of manual ability, so using again those materials, that otherwise, once their primary function is accomplished, would be useless. Hence, the aim of the project is to spur people on, arouse the curiosity and the critical sense of the participants, not referring to the art itself, but, through it, referring to the world that sorrounds us, suggesting approaches and educational methodologies suited to favour these processes. In the last period, all over the world, the art of recycling became a very popular practice, which is able to combine business with pleasure through the use of creativity and imagination. It is the union between art and environment, where the former comes to the latter's aid, thanks to the reutilization of the hard-to-dispose material once they are thrown away. The recycling in such workshops, thanks to the lessons of the association's members, is realized by making paintings, sculptures, collages and installations through the waste recovery, that from a waste element it becomes a material which is productive for and functional to the artistic expression. Hence, it is a project about environmental education that considers waste in their multiple aspects and it aims to restore the contact between art and audience, through their works, but not just through it, and above all, its purpose is to create a web of relationships focused on new generations and its main aim is to make all the involved actors think about the lengthening of the materials' life. This was a necessary step to think about the different art tendencies. Antonello Mango
