The association operates actively on the Pollino National Park territory, on the Lucania side, but not only there, being the promoter of a series of initiatives aimed to get local communities, schools, teachers and tourists involved, to popularize this project through the widest collective participation and to awaken people to the arts and the contemporary expressive languages. In the first edition of the Un Altro Sud project by Arte Pollino, a biennal about art and nature in the South of Italy, the association provided technical and logistic supports to the artists Anish Kapoor, Carsten Holler and Giuseppe Penone, who were involved in the project for the realization of three site specific works, following them in the territory's inspections, organizing meetings, seminars and workshops with the local communities and, moreover, collaborating in their work sites. Referring to ‘the local communities project' (by Arte Pollino Un Altro Sud), the association dealt with the diffusion, documentation and archive-keeping of the material about the "Qui e non altrove. Qui" project by the artist Claudia Losi, it also cooperated with the artists Anni Rapinoja and Nils-Udo in the territory's inspections, it organized their meetings with local communities, it took part in the materials' collection aimed to the realization of their installations.

February/March 2009 The ECOTOURISM WORKSHOP was a step of the project addressed to the tourist entrepreneurs and to all those who offer cultural, orientational and entertainment services which characterize the tourist offer. Aim of the workshop was to interpret ART and NATURE in the creation of ecotourist products and services, to make the Pollino's Lucana area attractive. During the workshop two themes were discussed: the ecotourist PRODUCT. Which were the market and the experiences that linked ART with NATURE? After the contributions by some experts, it followed a work session with the participants, aimed at representing ecotourist products to be developed or enhanced, whose main fruition is by the ROUTE.
the environmental QUALITY in the accomodation facilities. If the tourist product is based on the landscape's and the natural environment's quality, then also the hospitality must be consistent. The Workshop showed the European Ecolabel, which are the criteria that the European Union considers as qualifying the accomodation facilities which are compatible with the environment. After the explanation, it followed a session "on site" in which the spokesman and the participants visited some accomodation facilities talking about the advantages and the difficulties in the ecolabel use.
The workshop was divided into two working sections, during February and March. The working method was participatory: the experts were called to guide the proposal of the participants, and those had to share and debate them in an open and collaborative way, using the workshop to improve the project planning for the actual operativeness.
March 2009 The project is part of the Patto con i Giovani and its aim is to reutilize 5 disused or unused buildings, which after the restoration could be used to accomodate creative workshops. ArtePollino is the leader association of the work group who proposed a series of innovative activities and ideas for the Val Sarmento centre (ex-multipurpose craft centre in San Paolo Albanese).
