Work in progress

Among all the projects in progress, ArtePollino association is working to create a Documentation Center that wouldn't be as a mere passive guardian of contemporary art, but as a living container full of initiatives to foster reflections, creativity and fantasy, projects and proposals, promoting and housing cultural and educational activities, meetings, seminars, exhibitions;the ambition is that the centre would become an exclusive place for all visitors of the Park and a cultural container that would be a substantial point of reference not only for the Pollino and Basilicata, but also for the South of Italy.

Purpose

The main aim of the Arte Pollino Documentation Center is the creation of a wide archive able to document contemporary art, which is going to be experimented by Pollino, thanks to the work of world-famous artists, through the collection and the computerized cataloguing of works of art, catalogues, monographs, grey literature (invitations, brochures, press releases, leaflets, etc.), photographic material, videos and everything that is referred to the in fieri activities of the project and the Arte Pollino association (i.e. Artists' work Documentation; Tourist Routes; Photo Contest; "Art and Recycling" project, etc.). In order to this, the association believes that to make the Documentation Center enduring and to enrich its heritage, it is very important to exchange catalogues, invitations, posters, headline boards, videos and every kind of popular material, with other national and international istitutions which deal with Contemporary Art.

Activity

The main purpose of the center's activity is to get children, young people and adults involved in a reflection on contemporary art and about how it could often represent an important interpretative current instrument and an important development factor for a territory. To reach this aim, it was organized the educational section, a proper cultural workshop about educational programmes, laboratories and routes that are linked both to the works of art, that will be realized in the Park, and to the other creative events. The educational project will be oriented to the popularization of contemporary art through a stimulating and formative approach that would keep the different users-segments closer.
