| Anni Rapinoja |
Anni Rapinoja comes from a little isle of Finland, a place where the nature is the sole mistress and where the artist lives and works, and she has elks and rushes as co-workers, she relates with the weeping willows and talks with the forests that continue to grow, with marshes and beaches. She thinks herself to be a medium able to make us visible the essence of these co-workers. Sometimes, also the eco-energies – sun, wind or water - are necessary to create the works, hence to the work of the artist, who gives proportions and effects to the work, and it comes into play the natural process that can alter colours and proportions during the years. In the 2008, she was selected for the MOMA Exhibition in New York. Skycleaner - ArtePollino 2009
It is a project addressed to one of the arbereshe community of Pollino National Park. Literally, skycleaner means “cleaner of the sky” and it is an installation of giant brooms made of broom plants. The use and the manufacturing of broom is a typical activity of the municipality of San Paolo Albanese, that has been refashioned in a contemporary interpretation by the artist. Her project's aim is to enhance one of the most ancient popular traditions of the Park, creating a series of brooms fixed in the ground and directed towards the sky, almost as an invocation for a cleaner sky that connects, symbolically, the little town of San Paolo Albanese to the pollution's and the use of natural resources' global problems. |
